The Stroke Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth is London’s leading rehabilitation centre, providing patients with the highest standards of care.
The Unit has just relocated to a brand new £2.1m ward to complement our newly refurbished physiotherapy department.
Specialist Physiotherapist and Stroke Unit Liaison, Hema Chhima, explains;
‘The new state of the art medical ward, St Andrews, has made an incredible impact on our patients and care. New developments in research and such a fantastic state of the art facility allow us to continually provide patients with excellence in treatment and family support.
I have been at the Hospital for 8 years and I always describe it as a small place with a big heart. My role includes working across Physiotherapy, Outpatients and Inpatients with a focus on people post Stroke or living with Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis.
I spend my time putting together strategies for patients as well as helping develop their movement and strength. We work to look after each patient as an individual to help them with their worries and fears as well as their physical development.
The patients that we see across the Hospital are often going through an unimaginable time where their life has been turned upside down, but the support from the teams across the Hospital and Hospice enable us to offer each person bespoke care and seeing the difference this can make to the patients life makes everyday so rewarding.”
The Stroke Unit and offers a comprehensive service covering care and rehabilitation, neuro-physiotherapy, mini strokes and TIA’s, neuropsychology from our expert consultants.
