Eyelid rejuvenation

As the eyelid is a thin fold of skin it is particularly susceptible to the effects of ageing. Tiny changes to the skin on or around either eye can be quite noticeable and can give the face an unbalanced look. Eyelid surgery, also known as ‘eyelid rejuvenation’ or ‘blepharoplasty surgery’, is the best way of combating this.

Eyelid rejuvenation surgery

Over time the eyelid can sag and become ‘hooded’. It can restrict vision and can effect confidence. A tried and tested procedure, Blepharoplasty surgery can rectify this by removing excess tissue. The consultant will cut along the fold of eyelid to remove excess skin, muscle and fat before closing the incision. The incisions are performed along the natural contours of the eyelids and into the laughter lines at the corner of the eyes. Patients can normally leave shortly after the operation and recuperate at home but will need a period of rest and to avoid any strenuous work or sporting activity until the swelling subsides and the stitches have been removed, usually about seven days later.

Laser eyelid procedures are also available to perform the same rejuvenation process as traditional surgery while also helping promote a refreshed look and enhanced contouring around the eye. Both are accepted techniques and consultations will help you decide which is the best for your particular condition and appearance.

Our Appointments Team have a dedicated and caring approach to finding you the earliest appointment possible with the best specialist.

If you are self-paying you don’t need a referral from your GP for a consultation. You can simply refer yourself* and book an appointment.

If you have health insurance (e.g. Bupa, Axa Health, Aviva), you will need to contact your insurer to get authorisation before any treatment, and in most cases you will also require a referral letter from your GP.

If you are not registered with a GP, we have an in-house private GP practice you can use. Alternatively, we can suggest the most appropriate course of action for you to take, given your location and individual circumstances.

*Please note – for investigations such as X-rays and MRIs, a referral will be required. However, we may be able to arrange this for you through our on-site private GP.
