COVID-19 update:  Our hospital is still fully open for appointments and admissions, however visitors are not permitted.

Stroke Clinic

The Stroke Clinic at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital is equipped to provide both initial care and treatment for stroke patients and on-going rehabilitation as part of the recovery process following a stroke.

Our private stroke clinic strongly focuses on post-stroke rehabilitation and respite care to provide patients with long term solutions and treatment plans. Stroke treatment is highly individualised and we pride ourselves on working in partnership with stroke patients and their families to provide specially tailored treatment plans.

Our stroke treatment services

Recovering from a stroke requires time, patience and expertise. Our specialist stroke clinic can offer a wide range of stroke treatments depending on the specific needs of each patient. Our stroke rehabilitation programme is a long term process that adjusts as a patient gains functionality or adapts to new ways of doing things.

“The staff are wonderful here – not just bringing you trays, handing you pills – they know their stuff. For example – Hema with her background in physiology. She doesn’t just know therapy, she understands how muscles work, she understands how bones work, she understands physical structure and she talks about it very knowledgeably.”

"Daphna my occupational therapist is extraordinary and she's another who never lets you out of the hard work but she knows when you've gone as far as you can do. She has a good feel for when to push and when to step back a bit."

If you have any questions relating to treatment options or pricing information then get in touch with us by filling out one of our contact boxes or giving us a call on 020 7806 4075.

Our Appointments Team have a dedicated and caring approach to finding you the earliest appointment possible with the best specialist.

If you are self-paying you don’t need a referral from your GP for a consultation. You can simply refer yourself* and book an appointment.

If you have medical insurance (e.g. Bupa, Axa PPP, Aviva), you will need to contact your insurer to get authorisation for any treatment and, in most cases, you will require a referral letter from your GP.

If you do not have a GP, then we have an in-house private GP practice that you can use. Alternatively we can suggest the most appropriate course of action for you to take, given your location and individual circumstance.

*Please note – for investigations such as X-rays and MRI’s a referral will be required. However, we may be able to arrange this for you through our on-site private GP.
