Consultant Biography
Mr Mohammad Shorafa is the lead clinician for the regional Oral & Maxillofacial services based at Northwick Park Hospital, Mr Shorafa is Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon & Oral Surgeon at Northwick Park Hospital, Heatherwood & Wexham Park Hospitals; he has years of experience as consultant following his extensive training in the field of Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Surgery.
Following his undergraduate Dental and Medical qualifications he has worked and trained in many renowned hospitals both nationally and internationally. He qualified in Dentistry in 1992, following which he also undertook a period of focused research and was awarded Masters Degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MDS), Mr Shorafa also has Medical (MBBS) degree from Kings collage London which makes him unique like limited number of other colleagues nationally to be both Dentally and Medically qualified.
Having trained in General Surgery, Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery and Neurosurgery, he then started his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery working in some of London’s leading hospitals including Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Eastman Dental Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, The Royal London Hospital, and Northwest London Hospitals.
Having completed his higher surgical training he passed the Intercollegiate FRCS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and was subsequently awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training.
Mr. Shorafa has a special interest in Orthognathic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma, Oral medicine, Dental Implantology including Bone grafting and Sinus lift, Minor oral surgery including surgical removal of wisdom teeth, under local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia.
He continues to take an active interest in Medical & Dental education and training. He is Clinical supervisor for the specialty registrars in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, also educational supervisor for the dental foundation trainees.
Mr Mohammad Shorafa is on the panel of the examiners for the MFDS part 2 examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, MJDF part 2 examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, panel member for SITE assessment for the core surgical trainees and also on the panel of examiners for Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination (ISFE) in Oral Surgery.
Mr Mohammad Shorafa is an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) provider and instructor, he regularly teaches doctors and surgeons on the ATLS provider course.
Mr Mohammad Shorafa is Royal College Of Surgeons BAOMS Specialty advisor for the south central region, he is member of council of the Oral & maxillofacial section of the Royal Society of Medicine, he is also member of the BAOMS Clinical Effectiveness Committee (CEC). He practices privately at MaxFax London.
