Weight-loss Gastric Balloon with transparent pricing
6th April 2017
Patients at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth are treated in state of the art facilities in St John’s Wood by leading consultants and dedicated nursing teams.
The GI Unit at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth is a multidisciplinary group comprised of Gastroenterologists, Upper and Lower GI Surgeons, Radiologists and Oncologists providing world class care.
How a Gastric Balloon Works
The Gastric Balloon System takes up space in the stomach. As a result of the restriction patients get full quicker and are then able to reduce their portion sizes. Our onsite nutritional team make changes in meal choice and preparation with the aim to establish long term healthier eating habits for patients. The balloon remains the primary factor contributing to weight loss but should be used alongside a healthy diet and an exercise regime.
The balloon system is temporary and is removed after 6 months. The gastric balloon does not involve surgery or any long-term drug therapy.
Clinically Proven Results
Clinical studies have shown clear results after the six month period, a Brazilian research study in 2004 recorded an average weight loss of 33lbs (15kg or 2st 5 lbs) among 323 patients, while a European project in 2005 found that 2,515 patients lost an average of 44lbs (20kg or 3st 2lbs).
