Vascular Laboratory

Based in the Imaging Department, our Non-Invasive Vascular Assessment Laboratory uses Doppler Ultrasound equipment and a computerised blood flow measuring system, to undertake assessments of the blood flow in the arteries and veins of the arms, legs, and neck. These scans are often referred to as "NIVA scans".

Conditions suitable for investigation include:

  • Varicose Veins
  • Leg Ulceration
  • Leg swelling, calf pain
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis
  • Intermittent Caudation
  • Ischaemia
  • Arterial Graft Surveillance
  • TIA / Stroke
  • Carotid Artery Disease
  • Aortic Aneurysm

The report produced by the Vascular Technicians helps the referring Doctor or Surgeon to provide more accurate and definitive treatment.

  • This service is available to all patients, referred by a registered medical practitioner.
  • Appointments are available at short notice and where possible a 'same day' result service operates.
