This is from one of the outpatient questionnaires but was anonymous.
The Hospital is accredited by BUPA as a specialist centre for breast care. This means that the Hospital has been recognised for the high standard of care given from the point of referral to the team of breast specialists, through diagnosis to treatment. The standard time from referral to appointment is within 24 hours.
Outpatient services have a team of specialist breast surgeons working with their colleagues in imaging to ensure patients are seen and investigated at the same appointment, allowing the patient the reassurance of receiving results on the same day where possible.
The Hospital employs a Macmillan Breast Care Specialist Nurse who works with the specialists in the outpatient area to support the patients and plans patient care in the inpatient unit and beyond.
The Hospital now has a fully digital, state of the art breast imaging unit to provide accurate and fast images to aid diagnosis. This equipment is called full field digital mammography
Referrals for breast screening can be self referrals as long as the patient is > 40yrs and this can be done by calling the imaging department on 020 7806 4030.
If you have a breast lump you need to see a breast specialist who will explain all the investigations and will then supervise them and arrange a rapid turn around of results. To make an appointment contact outpatients on 020 7806 4030 and ask for an urgent appointment with a breast specialist.
