Dr Alan Hakim is a Consultant in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine.
Since becoming a Consultant in 2000 Dr Hakim has been active in clinical trials and epidemiology research in Rheumatology, having been an Arthritis Research Campaign Clinical Fellow, a UK Chief Investigator for several international clinical trials, Hon. Lecturer at UCL and at Guy’s & St Thomas’, and Hon. Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London.
As experienced writer and educator Dr Hakim has over 100 publications including 5 books, and lectures and teaches internationally. He also has an extensive portfolio in hospital and commissioning senior management including lead service roles in Rheumatology, Osteoporosis, Emergency Medicine; Hospital Trust Executive roles in Strategy and Business Improvement; and, Board Non-executive roles as the Secondary Care Member to the CWHHE Commissioning Collaborative, Inner North West London.
Dr Hakim is the Chief Medical Advisor and a Trustee to the UK charity The Hypermobility Syndromes Association, a Medical Advisor to the UK charity Ehlers-Danlos Support UK, and a member of the Medical and Scientific Board of the international charity The Ehlers-Danlos Society.
