Consultant Biography

Dr Alan Hakim is a Consultant in Rheumatology and Acute Medicine.

Since becoming a Consultant in 2000 Dr Hakim has been active in clinical trials and epidemiology research in Rheumatology, having been an Arthritis Research Campaign Clinical Fellow, a UK Chief Investigator for several international clinical trials, Hon. Lecturer at UCL and at Guy’s & St Thomas’, and Hon. Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London.

As experienced writer and educator Dr Hakim has over 100 publications including 5 books, and lectures and teaches internationally. He also has an extensive portfolio in hospital and commissioning senior management including lead service roles in Rheumatology, Osteoporosis, Emergency Medicine; Hospital Trust Executive roles in Strategy and Business Improvement; and, Board Non-executive roles as the Secondary Care Member to the CWHHE Commissioning Collaborative, Inner North West London.

Dr Hakim offers a comprehensive service managing all aspects of rheumatic conditions in those aged 16 years and above, including Rheumatoid arthritis, Gout, and other inflammatory arthritic disorder; back pain and chronic widespread pain; Osteoporosis; and the Heritable Disorders of Connective Tissue. Details of Dr Hakim’s practice, including contact for enquiries and arranging appointments are available at
